Such a wonderful day for our first Club Championships on Sunday. The sun was shining and the water conditions were perfect for our Nippers. It was so great to see so many smiling faces on the beach and in the water. A heartfelt thank you to everyone across the club who helped make the day such a success. We are the largest Nippers program on the Northern Beaches and it’s so wonderful to have so many volunteers chip in to ensure our kids are safe, they have fun and we all contribute to building a strong sense of community.
Round 2 Club Championship will be held on Feb 4.
For those who are keen for more than our Sunday Nippers, there are a couple of local carnivals that we’ll be attending. All Nippers U9 and above are welcome to attend and these local carnivals are a great way to “test the waters”.
1) Sunday 3 Dec – Junior Beach Carnival | North Narrabeen Sun Dec 3
Entries close Friday 24th Nov – sign up here
2) Sunday 10 Dec – Long Reef Carnival
Entries yet to open – check this page in the coming weeks
Congratulations on U8s for an amazing BBQ last weekend, with record numbers of snags being flamed. Thank you to all the parent helpers who jumped in. This weekend is U9s turn to man the tongs. If you can spare an hour, please volunteer for barbecue duty here
We need everyone to chip in to spread the workload across our Nipper Community.
See you on Sunday morning!
December 3rd is the last proficiency. If you have not completed your proficiency please book in via eLearning to either session.
To book in:
Spaces are available for 0800 and 1000 proficiency and must be booked through the members portal and skills maintenance completed. Go to eLearning and you will see the skills maintenance and access to the booking for proficiency. If you do not have a username and password yet, you can create one as a member.
Please note to complete the proficiency you must finish the Skills Maintenance section in eLearning. If it is not completed the system will not allow us to make you proficient.
We also still have some members to complete the skills maintenance online and some who have completed the Dry but are still to complete the run-swim-run and rescue.
We have an IRB drivers course happening and we are looking for more members to obtain their IRB crewing certificate. Please contact us if you wish to do either course.
BM Bronze Medallion
On the 26th at the club we have over 20 members doing their Bronze Medallion. The club is hosting the assessment and around 55 members from North Curl Curl, North Steyne and Long Reef are booked in for assessment.
SRC (Surf Rescue Certificate)
We have 14 in training for the SRC who will be doing their assessment on the 2nd December. In January we will be conducting an intensive SRC during the school holidays. It will be open to all Nippers who have turned 13 and details will be provided soon. This is the first step in being able to Patrol with the candidates learning radio, signals, board and tube rescue and CPR and a broad range of surf survival and surf awareness skills.
Nationally recognised first aid courses will be offered to members. If the course is allowing you to qualify for other awards such as the BM and Advanced Resuscitation the course is free and for others it is a nominal fee. Details of courses will be provided as soon as possible, and you may see these courses offered at other clubs in the Branch team app.
40 members completed the induction on the new SSV (ATV) . Members are reminded that if they have not completed the induction on the new vehicle, they are not permitted to drive it.

What a busy start to season 2023/24, I cannot believe it is November already…
The start to the season has been a fantastic one as we continue to support the benefits of health & well being through your love of surf.
Our passionate coaching team has been hard at work, coaching and mentoring each week on the beach and I cannot thank them enough for their support. This year we welcomed back Sean, Mike, Glenn Jason, Kim, Darryl, Tony and Dinky in various roles and also welcomed some great new coaches in Cam, Liam, Jami & Ollie.
With all surf sports activities firmly underway we have seen boats, beachies and surf competitors across all ages training and representing NCC in carnivals.
Starting with the high of watching one of our own, Luke H represented Australia in the youth team who went head-to-head with New Zealand in the Battle of the Tasman on the Gold Coast. We have seen some incredible performances in the local nipper carnivals, the Beach Stormers series, Coolangatta Gold, the Surf Boat Premiership and also the initial rounds of the Summer of Surf.
As we look to close the calendar year out I am looking forward to seeing you all continue to represent NCC over the next few weeks before a well deserved Christmas break.
