Hi Members,

Who said their is an off-season in Surf clubs…plenty has been going on

The board of directors and several other members recently participated in a season review session identifying areas which went well, areas of opportunity and areas for improvement.

Patrol strengths for this season represent an area for improvement and we have a definite opportunity to further streamline our education offerings to members e.g SRC and Bronze.

Work is going on behind the seasons to address these areas.

I’m very happy to share with you that the Board of Directors have approved the purchase of a new ATV and IRB for this coming season, representing $45k plus of investment in lifesaving resources. Hopefully both items will on the beach by October.

Our 100 year book is in the final stages of editing and should be available in a few weeks time.

Surf Sports have conducted their first training camp with over 3 days in the July school holidays with specialist coaches joining the team from North Bondi and Northcliffe.

A huge congrats to

Pipi Te Pania and Luke Higgs on their recent selection in the Australian Surf Life Saving Youth team competing against NZ at the end of August on the Gold Coast.

Sam Higgs who been named in the Australian Swimming team to compete in the Junior Commonwealth Games also being held in August in the Caribbean nation of Trinidad Tobago.

Further details to follow as the Nippers team finalise their plans for the season.

School holidays camp

During the school holidays our surf sports team from Under 13’s up were fortunate to participate in a 3 day camp at North Curl Curl. The group were fortunate to have the expertise coaching of Gavin Hill come down from Northcliffe SLSC to give them technique advice on the boards and Jimmy Walker from North Bondi came over on the Saturday to work with group on the Ski’s. The feedback from the group at the end of the camp were extremely positive and are looking forward to the season ahead.
