Surf to Shore – 7th December 2023
This Saturday, your surf club is hosting one of our major fundraising events, the Aquaculture 2km Ocean & True Protein 3 Points Challenge. We hope to attract 500-plus competitors. To successfully organize this event, which we initiated in 2004, we need up to 80 volunteers. A heartfelt thank you to every member who is volunteering their time this Saturday.
If you have a couple of free hours and haven’t volunteered yet, please meet me at the IRB shed at 7.45am on Saturday morning.
100 Yearbook update: I’ve been advised by our production team that the expected print and completion date is the end of January 2024. There has been a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes by the team, and I’m very hopeful that this date is met.
To our Patrol Members volunteering their time to keep our beaches safe this weekend, as always, a big “Thank you.”
See you on the beach or in the surf!

2KM OCEAN SWIM & 3 POINTS CHALLENGE
Due to the intense heat forecasted for this Saturday, we have to make some important safety adjustments to our major fundraising event.
We are now starting the True Protein 3P at 8:30 am and the 2km Aquaculture Ocean Swim at approximately 10:15 am.
If you’re volunteering for a few hours on Saturday or intend to volunteer, please arrive at the club and meet at 7:45 am at the IRB shed so that we can ensure we have enough Course Marshals to cover the course.
You can pick up your crew shirt as well. If you’re on the registration desk or first aid, your team leaders will inform you where you need to be and when.
Thanks, everyone, for your help this Saturday.
LIFESAVING
We’ve welcomed a group of new bronze members who graduated two weeks ago, along with four new IRB drivers last weekend. Congratulations to the graduates and a special acknowledgment to the trainers who have generously contributed their time to ensure our patrols are well-equipped. We’re eager to see our new bronzies gradually join patrols over the next few weekends.
Regarding Christmas patrols, if you’re available to patrol on Christmas Day for a few hours, please let me know as soon as possible via email or Whatsapp in the Bronze group. We divide the sessions into 2-hour time slots throughout the day: 09-11, 11-13, 13-15, 15-17. Currently, we have one volunteer. Please consider participating!

NIPPERS
Happy to report we had a great Club Champs a few weeks back. So great to see so many kids having fun and learning about how to be safe in the water. The next Club Champs are on 4 Feb, we look forward to doing it all again!
As the year draws to a close we will be having our last Christmas Nippers session on 17 Dec. There will be a special guest visitor for the kids so come on down and grab a sausage and get festive.
The first session back in the new year will be on 21 Jan.
In the new year, we will also potentially be running a Twilight Nipper session. We’ll post info on Facebook and through the WhatsApp groups once details are confirmed. It’s a beautiful way to round off the week and the beach is stunning at sundown.
For those of you who are interested, training sessions will continue over the school holidays, there may be a few sessions cancelled over the Christmas/ New Year period. It’s best to check with your coaches and on the NCC Surf Sports Competitors Family Page each week. And if you haven’t already done so (and it is relevant to you) join the Yellow Squad WhatsApp group, to keep up-to-date on training changes over the holiday period.
See you on the sand on Sunday!
