It was going to be an historic first time event, but the weather gods were not on our side when the club hosted the inaugural Global Swim Series Pacific Championships. From first light, the weather conditions looked good and it was all systems go, but conditions soon turned for the worse with a strong southerly blowing in on queue as the course swim cans were being set. Unfortunately it was a case of safety first, and the event was called off by 7:30am….and the weather conditions continued to deteriorate as we pulled down the course setup, justifying the decision
The club has decided to re-schedule the event for April 22nd, and all competitors that were already entered for the first date are automatically entered for this new date. Let’s hope the weather gods are on our side this time
